Parishes around the Diocese of Orlando will participate in a Diocesan Day of Reconciliation, on April 2.

Bishop John Noonan invites all of the faithful to celebrate Reconciliation during this Lenten season, specifically on this day, which is the start of Holy Week. He said celebrating the sacrament gives believers an opportunity “to journey back to God,” and as a Church, “we need to do that in unity with one another.”

“If we are a community of faith it’s very important that we do things together,” Bishop John Noonan said. “It’s important for us to recognize that forgiveness is a very important gift that Christ has given us.”

In the past, the Diocesan Day of Reconciliation has been held on other days during Lent, including the Saturday of Palm Sunday weekend.

“We hope that everybody will know that Monday of Holy Week is an opportunity to come to the sacrament,” Bishop Noonan said. “May we come to understand that the Lord, our God, is God indeed, the faithful God who keeps His merciful covenant to the thousandth generation toward those who love Him and keep His commandments.”

Each parish will celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation at different times, so it is important to contact your parish for a schedule.
