Ensuring a safe environment for the vulnerable – April 8, 2019

“Each person should be respected and treated with the dignity befitting a child of God and it is everyone’s responsibility to safeguard those around us. These are the core values of the Safe Environment Policy of the Diocese of Orlando. For this reason, diocesan leaders continue to update, improve upon, and insert Catholic teaching into the training process for all clergy, religious, church personnel and lay volunteers who work with vulnerable populations…”

Bishop Noonan reflects on the “now” of God – February 22, 2019

“Where is your heart? Is it struggling with anger and disappointment? Perhaps some of that is directed at me for something you perceive I did or did not do. I am sorry for your disappointment. This week, February 21 – 24, our Holy Father has gathered the presidents of the Bishops’ Conferences of the Catholic Church on the theme of ‘protection of minors.’ Let us pray together for those who are participating that God’s love will be a source of unification and that our collective heart will repent and forgive our sinfulness.”

Security evaluation shows great promise – January 29, 2019

“St. James wrote, “If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it?  So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead” (James 2:15-17).  Our living faith calls us to care for each person, so dignified by God. In light of this, the people of the Diocese of Orlando continue to work diligently to implement top-notch security for every school and parish in the nine counties we serve. As phase one of the partnership with Life Safety Solutions nears an end, significant strides have been made and the diocese is determined to launch phase two with careful consideration…”

Podcast: Reconnecting with The Holy Spirit with Bishop Noonan – January 26, 2019

“We ask ourselves this question, ‘Is Jesus for us a person or a personality?’ And I think for a vast majority of the people in the world today, Jesus is a personality… and a personality can be anybody, but it’s not somebody you have a conversation with. He (Father Raniero Cantalamessa, apostolic preacher) stressed the whole thing of Jesus is a person you have a relationship with – you talk to, you share, you reflect on, and you speak to. And I think that’s so important for me that God or Jesus is not an object. He’s really the subject of your life. Sometimes we get so disconnected from that.”

Podcast: Moments of Grace with Bishop Noonan – December 4, 2018

“There are moments like this where the Church may have disappointed us, but it’s also a moment of grace that we allow the Lord into our hearts and into the hearts of our people… that we can really, truly say, ‘Lord, help us.’”

Bishop Noonan’s statement on statewide investigation – October 4, 2018

“You are precious because you are created by God for God! Because of our relationship through, with and in God, we receive a sacred dignity which we are each called to honor through all our lives. That is why you and I are committed to flourishing the well-being of all God’s people. For me personally, it is especially important to keep safe our vulnerable populations.”

Bishop Noonan reflects on faithfulness – September 14, 2018

“I have received your letters, your emails, and I pray for you as you are suffering. As Christ is beside me, before me, I pray for your forgiveness for the wrongdoing that you may have experienced at the hands of someone within the Church, whether bishop, priest, religious or lay.”

Bishop Noonan reflects on the Word of truth – August 31, 2018

“During these past few weeks, my heart is pained with sadness and I, like you, am overwhelmed at the shadow cast by the information about sexual misconduct within the Church. It is horrifying and difficult to understand how these consecrated men left the Word of Truth so many years ago. Some of you have asked for assurances that we are vigilant in keeping our families safe from harm. It is everyone’s responsibility to safeguard those around us.”
