The seventh grade class of Sacred Heart Catholic School in New Smyrna Beach showed their gratefulness to all the members of the Knights of Columbus and the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) for helping and supporting the school during Confirmation and First Communion. The special thanksgiving luncheon was on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, after the 11 a.m. school-led Mass.
Sacred Heart pastor Father Tom Burke, C.Ss.R. and school principal Mrs. Shelley Niswonger were present to support the students who sacrificed their recess and lunch break so that they could make this event possible. The parish Social Hall was packed with men and women who showed their appreciation for the beautiful set up and the sumptuous food served by the students. Mrs. Victoria C. and Mrs. Kay S., seventh grade parents, helped organize the event.
Riyanna V., a sixth grade student, played the piano to the delight of the more than 70 guests while Kaileigh M., an eighth-grader, sang some of the most beloved songs of the young at heart in the group. The president of Sacred Heart CCW, Mrs. Betty A. said, “We did not expect the luncheon to be this special. You (the students) went above and beyond, and now, it’s our turn to say thank you to all of you!”
