Bishop Noonan web lowresMessage From Bishop Noonan

My Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
The Lord is our refuge! We praise God that the predicted deadly destruction of Hurricane Dorian spared us. We also know that this season of storms is just begun. We are called to assist our brothers and sisters in the Bahamas and those who may be faced with the loss of their worldly possessions or economic livelihood. The isolation and fear caused by storms can be overwhelming. We can bring them comfort as the body of Christ.
I ask that you make a financial offering to 2019 Disasters Collection to support the efforts of Catholic Charities USA and/or Catholic Relief Services, the official relief agencies of the U.S. Catholic Church, as they and their local agencies respond to immediate emergency needs for such necessities as water, food, shelter, and medical care and aid in long-term rebuilding and recovery efforts, and for pastoral and reconstruction needs of the Church. I thank you for any offering you may make. Over the next few weeks, our parishes are also taking up a special collection for this purpose.
In every age, Lord, You have been our refuge. May we serve as His refuge for those in need.

Bishop John Noonan

“For the people of the Bahamas who have been devastated by Hurricane Dorian, may they find comfort and hope in God’s love, and be blessed with the grace and strength needed to rebuild their homes and communities, let us pray to the Lord.

For the safety of all those working in emergency services, relief agencies and religious agencies as they work together to rescue and provide care for all the displaced, let us pray to the Lord.

For those forced from their homes by Hurricane Dorian, may they find shelter, food and water through the helping hands of family, friends and people of goodwill, let us pray to the Lord”.
