About the Event
We are people of life because God, in his unconditional love, has given us the Gospel of life and by this same Gospel we have been transformed and saved. These are words written by Pope Saint John Paul II in his groundbreaking encyclical on life, “Evangelium Vitae.”
As people of life, we are called to lead our families, schools, communities, churches and governments to a greater awareness of this precious gift we have received from God. To help energize, educate and engage all Catholics on this mission of evangelization, the Diocese of Orlando is presenting the 2016 Respect Life State Conference October 14-15 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 5300 Old Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park. The theme this year is “Merciful like the Father.”
Pope Francis said “Mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and instils in us the courage to look to the future with hope,” (Misericordiae Vultus #10).
This conference will provide hope and inspiration for people of good will who seek to reawaken in all hearts a zeal for life. An impressive array of national speakers will deliver powerful and impactful messages of mercy that can guide our efforts to promote, nurture and instill the Gospel of life into our world. Important and relevant topics such as human trafficking, pornography, abortion and bioethics will be explored through the lens of God’s merciful love for each of us.
All ministry leaders, parishioners, and community members who seek to become more effective witnesses to the Gospel of life and the Father’s love are invited to this special event that is designed to engage all Catholics on the mission of mercy in the life of the Church. We specifically encourage the participation of catechists, faith formation directors, respect life coordinators, clergy, Society of St Vincent de Paul members, Knights of Columbus, Council of Catholic Women, and pro-life advocates.
